Clean Water & Sanitation in Chhuk An Village
Access to clean water and basic sanitation is a huge problem in many rural communities in Cambodia. Many people living in remote areas do not have access to safe toilets, which creates major health issues and contributes strongly to pollution.
Our first programme aims to develop access to clean toilets in a small float village on the Trapeang Thma Lake named Chhuk An Village, in the Phnom Srok region. This village gathers 50 families that have no access to a safe sanitation system. The Inspire programme is working to develop a safe sanitation system for this community, by means of the revenues generated through Travel to Inspire.
The money raised will also be used for the implementation of a sustainability strategy that will include basic courses and adapted materials on hygiene and sanitation for children and their families, and to provide technical training in the community for the maintenance of the infrastructures in the mid-long term.
Once the infrastructure will be installed our work wont` be over. An essential part of the sustainable strategy will be to create a community fund that will allow the people in Chhuk An Village to administer the infrastructure in the long term.
